WHAT IS COLLEGE & UNIVERSITY COACHING?

What is a life coach for college and university students?

To begin with, the terms “college” and “university” are here used interchangeably. I provide my services to adult students over the age of 18 who are studying for a degree, diploma or certificate.

A college/university coach is different from a counsellor or advisor. As a certified life coach, I primarily work with your personality and self. You can think of this type of coaching as a collaborative process in which we will explore aspects of your personality to shed light on your thoughts, feelings, and actions. The order I just mentioned is not random because our way of thinking usually defines how we feel and how we react to situations. Even something that appears to be easily justified may have deeper roots, and sometimes simply being aware of it is the first step toward transformation (for example, one could easily assume that procrastination is due to laziness, but this is frequently not the case!).

So why do college and university students need coaching?

The transition from adolescence to adulthood can often be filled with challenges. Many young adults are concerned about their next steps in life; some are starting down the path to independence, while others want to plan out their future growth.

Furthermore, a learning environment frequently presents new challenges, and the fact that students form new friendships and connections during these years can be overwhelming for some but easy for others.

Of course, not all students have the same concerns, but the following are some of the most common issues for which this age group seeks help:

  • Their transition to independence
  • College degree guidance
  • What to do after college
  • Career guidance
  • Beating procrastination
  • Becoming more productive
  • Handling social relationships
  • Finding an outlet for your interests
  • A desire or need to find their purpose in life as early as possible*
  • Confidence or self-esteem issues
  • Motivation

*On occasion young adults claim that they want to find their life purpose. It’s important to remember that life is a continuous process of self-improvement and evaluation and reevaluation of your core values. You cannot expect to always have a single purpose that you will pursue.

Who am I? Meet Constantine!

ABOUT ME

Meet Constantine,
Life Coach for College & University Students

My college years were the best years of my life. I am now in my early forties, and I can clearly see how what I considered a difficult decision at the time shaped my life for the better.

And having experienced all of the pitfalls and struggles firsthand, I am here to assist students like you in making the most of your time at college or university.

It all started when I was 16, and I couldn’t make up my mind about what I wanted to do after school. I had decided to attend university and was torn between two different courses. Finally, I decided to see a career “expert” who told me directly what to study and what not (only later in life did I realize that common practice is against telling someone directly what to do as a practitioner!)

Finally, I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in something completely different because it included some of my favorite subjects. It was a risky decision, and I struggled with some of the courses, changing my subject choices and making minor adjustments when permitted.

However, my biggest challenge was not academic: I had overcome my procrastination early on (despite the lack of digital productivity tools at the time – I will tell you all about them when we work together!) But it had mostly to do with finding my true identity in a new, large social circle where peer pressure was very common.

You see, I grew up as a shy, introverted kid who was pressured to dance at parties and go out more. Naturally, at that young age, I stayed within my comfort zone. Everything backfired when I got to university: I finally let myself go (or so I thought) and was transformed into a social butterfly who tried to please everyone.

To make a long story short, I was even more unsure of what I wanted to do after graduating, so I pursued a Master’s degree. And guess what… after that, I went on to get a PhD! Along the way, I changed universities and degrees, made new friends, lived in different locations and dorms, and pursued entirely different careers.

So you could say I’ve spent more than 15 years of my life at universities. In fact, I’m back at university right now, pursuing a new degree! I am what I call a multi-passionate person who likes learning new things and discovering new areas (a look at my certificates will confirm this 🤣!)

But I have to say that it wasn’t until I was in my forties that my inner flame for fulfillment rekindled, and I got a wake-up call: I wasn’t doing what I really wanted to do in life! My passion for psychology returned, as did my self-development journey, which led me to change my career path once more and study to become a certified life coach, among other things.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to wait until the age of 40 to be fulfilled!

This is why I decided to become a life coach for students in college and university. I understand and have firsthand experience with what you’re going through because I’ve been through my own bumpy ride. And I want to do everything I can to help you sort out your life and feel fulfilled as soon as possible.

And, even though I am a Certified Life Purpose Coach, I will never tell you what to do or what to do now because this is an ever-changing process. Instead, we will work together to discover your true potential and assist you in making a smooth transition as you grow wiser.

Also, I won’t promise that you will solve all of your problems overnight (that would be naive), but I will do my best to assist you in finding balance, purpose, and setting goals.

Coaching college and university students is a collaborative effort.

Consider coaching with me like this: you already have everything you need within you; all you need is someone to light the torch so you can see the path. And I’d like you to put your trust in me to carry this torch for you. As an online life coach, I promise complete discretion, and I will do my best to assist you.

TESTIMONIALS

"I would like to recommend I went to Constantine with a personal attribute issue that was very important to me. The only time I had dared share it, another coach laughed it off as no big deal which caused me internal pain. This was a big deal to me! Since then, I hadn’t felt comfortable sharing it with any other person, especially in a coaching situation.
... Thanks to him and that session, I feel the issue is a non-issue now, or at least fast becoming a non-issue with the skills I’ve learned in dealing with it.
